The farm of RISDT is situated close to the small village Palakonda, not far from the town Srikakulam.

The migration from rural areas to cities is one of Indians major problems. Due to speculation, land prizes went high in the last decades. Luckily, RISDT bought some 20 ha of wasteland before, in support with private donors.

With the model farm, we like to give the rural area a perspective and to provide agricultural education for local farmers.

It was tedious work to cultivate the land, which was a stone desert once. Today, the farm owns buffalos, a mango plantation, fodder crops and a vegetable garden. Regular guided tours inform local farmers and supply them with seedlings. The farm provides work for 10 families.
